PLYWOOD & BOARDS

It is an engineered wood product made by pressing sheets of wood veneer (layers/slices of wood) together with different types of glue to meet specific needs and product requirements.

TYPES OF PLYWOOD

Tropical Hardwood
Hardwood uses wood veneers from Meranti, Jelutong, Keruing etc. species, which makes the plywood suitable for heavy‐duty applications.

LW plywood (Falcata)
is a lightweight plywood . It is made using wood from the Albasia family. Falcata plywood is generally lighter than standard hardwood plywood with slightly lighter appearance.

MLH plywood
Hardwood uses wood veneers from Meranti, Jelutong, Keruing etc. species, which makes the plywood suitable for heavy‐duty applications.

Blockbaord
similar to plywood but the center layer or core is made from strips of softwood sandwiched between sheets of hardwood veneer, which is then pressed under high pressure. The characteristics of these Block board comparatively lighter in weight compared to plywood.

OTHER BOARDS

MDF
is versatile composite wood made from hardwood and softwood scraps which is denser than plywood or OSB. Because of its fine composition, MDF doesn’t hold nails or screws very well, and breaks loose easily. It also has no natural weather resistance and swells when wet. However, MDF is stronger than particle board and cheaper than plywood, making it a wonderfully cost-effective material for durability.

Particle board (Chipboard)
is made of sawmill trimming, sawdust, and wood chips compressed together with synthetic binders, giving it it’s trademark chipped appearance. It is one of the cheapest engineered woods, because it’s not as durable as others like plywood or composite board. However it is, very cheap and light, ideal for mass-produced furniture with light use. We supply standard plain chipboard and melamine chipboard in 4’×8’ and 6’×8’ in a varies of thickness.

TYPES OF
ADHENSIVE / BOND

MR
Plywood uses melamine urea formaldehyde resin T2 glue which is Moisture Resistant and is suitable for Interior usage.

WBP
Plywood is made using tropical hard wood with T1 adhesive which is colourless ,odourless and waterproof. Weather And Boil Proof plywood is less susceptible to shrinkage and expansion compared to the regular plywood and can be exposed to weather, water and moisture for a long period. It comes in 3ply, 5 ply, 7 ply and 9 ply depending on the thickness.

Marine plywood
is made using much more durable face and core veneer, bonded using Type A Phenolic glue, making it structurally stronger than the other variants of plywood. This allows it to perform longer in wet conditions and resist fungal attacks making it ideal for use on coastal areas, or onboard ships, where the plywood is constantly expose to humidity. The marine plywood is considered one of the best variants of plywood in terms of surface finishing, ply count and durability.

LAMINATED
PLYWOOD / BOARDS

Polyester
overlaid is made by applying a coat of polyester paint on either sides of the plywood/ board. It is available in matte, gloss, texture and leather finishing. The polyester plywood/ board is usually available in white, black or other required colours is often used in furniture making because the layer of polyester paint makes routine cleaning much easier.

PVC laminated
is another decorative board in which a thin layer of PVC sheet is laminated on either sides of the plywood/ board. It is available in white or decorative colour wood-grain which has realistic wood grain and soft colours. PVC laminated plywood/ board does not fade, is anti-wear, resistant to medium temperature, resistant to torsion and environment friendly. It is often used in furniture making as well because the layer of PVC makes it easier to clean.
